# GS1 product data with PLGGR | PIM > PLGGR is a GS1 partner. In PLGGR | PIM, suppliers manage GTINs, attributes and media in one place, set up to match the GS1 agreements their buyers in trade, healthcare and government use. ## What is GS1 GS1 is the global organisation behind the standards for product identification, including the barcode and the GTIN. A GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) gives every product a unique number that means the same across the whole chain. Around it, GS1 defines which attributes a product has and how to exchange them, so supplier and buyer read the same data in the same way. What GS1 defines: - GTIN - Product attributes - Classification - Images and media ## The challenge Purchasing organisations work with the GS1 standard. Product data that does not match it has to be corrected afterwards, or is not taken in. Where it usually goes wrong: - Missing GTINs - Attributes in a format of your own - Data spread across Excel and the ERP - Manual corrections for each buyer ## How PLGGR handles it - One source for GS1 data: in PLGGR | PIM, GTINs, attributes and media sit in one place, set up following the GS1 standard. Aligned with what buyers expect, with fewer corrections afterwards. - AI does the groundwork: AI reads supplier documents, proposes attributes and classifies products down to GS1 level. The supplier checks and decides what goes out. ## How it works 1. Import: items come into PLGGR | PIM from the ERP or from suppliers. 2. Enrich: GTINs, attributes and media are completed and classified following GS1, with AI doing the groundwork. 3. Publish: the data goes to buyers and channels, in the shape they expect. ## Questions - Is PLGGR a GS1 partner? Yes. In PLGGR | PIM you manage product data following the agreements of the GS1 standard. - Does PLGGR classify products to GS1 automatically? AI proposes a classification down to GS1 level, based on product data and supplier documents. You check it and decide what goes out. - Do I need a GS1 membership myself? For your own GTINs, yes. In the Netherlands, GS1 Nederland issues the numbers to member companies. PLGGR manages and publishes those codes but does not issue them. ## Pages - [GS1 product data (EN)](https://plggr.com/pages/gs1-productdata) - [GS1-productdata (NL)](https://plggr.com/nl-nl/pages/gs1-productdata) - [PLGGR | PIM](https://plggr.com/pages/pim) - [Book an introduction](https://plggr.com/pages/contact) ## Related article - [The hidden power of GS1 data and the growing pressure on wholesalers to organize it properly](https://plggr.com/blogs/news/the-hidden-power-of-gs1-data-and-the-growing-pressure-on-wholesalers-to-organize-it-properly)
